The Minister of Planning and International Cooperation, Dr. / Mohammed Al-Saadi and Captain / Ali Subhi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Transport for Maritime Affairs have paid a visit on Tuesday morning 05/08/2014
to Aden Container Terminal,where they were received by the leadership of the Corporation represented by Captain / Abdullah Ibrahim Abkar Alnagri Executive Chairman- Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr. / A'mer Al-Zaouri, the First Deputy Chairman and Eng. / Moh'd Abdulwasa, the General
Manager of Aden Co. for Ports Developments and a number of the Corporation Managers. During the visit, The Chairman of the Corporation has welcomed his Excellency the Minister of Planning and his companions and gave them a detailed explanation of the development project and the deepening and expansion of the Port of Aden as well as the activities, services and facilities provided by the Port. In a press release the Minister of Planning clarified that the Container Port development project in Aden is one of the most important projects that we expect to work on a positive conversion for the Yemeni economy and without a doubt we are at this advanced stage of the procedures of the project which required a field visit in which we recognize as officials and as a responsible concerned with this subject to identify the reality on the ground and its requirements as we are expecting next week a delegation from the funded party to visit the field and we hope that this issue will move on to the implementation phase after the completion of the procedures required for the signing of the loan soon. For his part, the Executive Chairman of the Corporation noted that the Chinese project is for the people of Yemen in general and the people of Aden in particular who are waiting for this good news and hope to see this project in reality which will be a great accomplishment for the Port of Aden, he added that this strategic project needs all the sincere efforts in the governorate and the country to meet its goals which aims at making the Port of Aden a hub Port for handling transit containers.The development project of the Port of Aden involves building an extra berth on the western side of Caltex jetty with a 1,000 meters length and a depth of 18 meters in addition to the deepening and expansion of the approach channel with a length of 7,400 meters, a width of 250 meters and a depth of 18 meters, plus the inner approach channel with the length of 3,800 meters, a width of 230 meters and a depth of 18 meters.
