The Port of Aden Acheived the largest handling in the past eight years

The Port of Aden witnessed steady growth during the first half of this year 2018 compared to the same period last year, and the handling rate is the largest during the past ten years. According to official statistics issued by YGAPC, the number of vessels entered the Port of Aden during the period from January to June 2018 reached 333 vessels, an increase of 6% over the same period last year. The increase in container ships during the first half of this year amounted to 12%, with 87 vessels, with an increase of ten vessels from the first half of last year, while the number of containers increased to 20% reaching 194,746 containers. In terms of dry cargo, the number of vessels entering the port reached 145 vessels, an increase of 9% compared to the number of vessels that arrived in the port during the first half of 2017. The cargo ships arrived during the first half of this year reached 2,092,033 tons, an increase of 56% from the 1,340,947 tons last year. However, the first half of last year was higher in shipment amounted 9,016 tons, which was not achieved in the first half of this year. The port achieved a double activity in liquid cargo. The number of vessels reached 34 vessels, an increase of 162% over the first six months of last year. The shipped cargo reached 570,266 tons, an increase of 115% weighing 1,062,097 tons, an increase of up to 194% from last year.
