His Excellency the Minister of Transport, Dr. Abdul Salam Hamid has conducted an inspection visit to Aden Container Terminal today, Tuesday the 26th of January 2021, and he was welcomed by Dr. Mohammad Alawi Amzerbah, Chairman of the Board of Directors and Mr. Aref Al Shaabi, General Manager of Aden Container Terminal
The Minister toured the container terminal facilities and he was updated by the Chairman of the Board of Directors about the current container terminal activities and its development plans.
Upon the completion of the MOT site visit he has met with the container terminal officials, whereas a visual presentation was presented for the container terminal and its contribution in serving the local market and the terminal performance indicators, which highlighted the increase of the throughput handled since 2015, hence ACT has become the only container terminal in receiving Yemen’s imports and exports and receives the local market needs and requirement including relief and humanitarian shipments.
Dr. Mohammad Amzerbah has explained that Aden Container Terminal has shown competency in servicing the escalating activities, which has reached its peak in the last year through the handling of around 465,000 TEUs, breaking the milestone of the highest number since the terminal commencement in 1999.
In return, His Excellency the Minister of Transport has valued and praised the positive efforts made by the Management and employees of the Yemen Gulf of Aden Ports Corporation and Aden Ports Development Company, urging everyone to exert more efforts to achieve higher rates of productivity, MOT has affirmed the Ministry and the government’s support to the port’s future plans, sensing the importance of the port to the country economy in serving the people of Yemen.
