WFP Will Supply Aden Port Equipment Worth $3.8 Million

August 16, 2020

This morning, Sunday, August 16, 2020 , Dr. Mohammad Alawi Amzarba, Executive chairman of YGAPC met with Mr. Mohamed Ali, Director of the World Food Program’s office in Aden, to discuss a draft memorandum of understanding, according to which the port will be provided with equipment for container handling that will contribute significantly to enhancing handling productivity, including 3 Reach Stackers and 4 Forklifts as well as a large number of cylindrical rubber fenders to protect ships' hulls from direct contact with the quay wall in Aden Container Terminal and Ma’alla Wharf. This comes as a result of the close cooperation between the organization and the port, which has been going on for five years.

In turn, Mr. Mohamed Ali thanked the port management, which provided the program with great facilities for the success of its relief activities that pass through the port. He also appreciated the port’s standing with the program to facilitate its tasks with other government agencies, noting that this would result in more support from the program and the United Nations organizations.

The meeting was attended by Eng. Abdulrab Jaber Al-Khulaqi, Deputy Chairman of YGAPC and Liaison Officer at the program, Dr. Jamal Al-Magali.
